Here’s How to Login into TP-LINK TC-7610 Router

TP-Link is a renowned name in the world of networking devices. The TP-Link TC-7610 is a cable-only modem wherein you will need an extra router to access the Wi-Fi.

Step 1: Open the Web Browser

Connect your modem with an RJ45 cable and see if your network is working. Open the web browser and type in the address 192.168.100.1 on the URL, then hit enter.

Step 2: Enter Login Credentials

Upon inputting the correct IP address, you will see the login screen wherein you can enter the default credentials. If you have already changed the default credentials, be ready with the new username and password. Below is the list of most common login credentials:

  • Login Username: admin
  • Login Password: admin

Note: The above combination was found to be correct in 90% of cases.

Step 3: Setting Up the TC-7610 Login Details

Inside the modem settings, look for the wireless settings and be cautious with the specific setting you are going to configure. Within the modem itself, you can modify the SSID or network name, the type of internet connection, the security settings, and modify your modem connection.

You will be able to see some tabs like status, wireless settings, firewall, and system settings. There are many options which the user can change like the transmission rate, IP address, and even the bandwidth. We always recommend changing the default username and password. Use the following tips to change the username and password.

Tips to Change the Username and Password:

  • Your password should have a mixture of alphanumeric characters and special characters.
  • Your password should be 8-16 characters long, complex yet easy to remember.
  • Username should be simple and user-friendly.
  • The username and password for the modem need to be written down somewhere as a precaution.

Step 4: Change the SSID of the TC-7610 Modem

The Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the visible name of your network when you open the Wi-Fi tab. By default, it is always the name of the modem manufacturer. If you don’t change the SSID, it can be very easy for anyone to predict the login details. Thus, it is highly recommended to alter the SSID of your new modem to something personal.

Example for SSID: Amazing_web, A1b2, Active_Web

Steps to Change the SSID or Network Name:

  • Make the SSID short and simple.
  • Don’t make it very fancy as it may backfire.
  • Don’t use any personal information to set the name of your router.

When you log into the modem, you will see the tab for changing the modem’s security settings. In the encryption settings, you need to select the option WPA2-PSK which is currently the best encryption standard. This setting will ensure that the modem is secure at an optimal level.

You can log into the modem using the IP address 192.168.100.1 and by entering the credentials.
